Wooden Crates Make for Cheap Storage at Home.

Decorating your home really doesn’t have to cost the earth, in every sense of the phrase. It is possible to decorate your home on a budget while also considering your impact on our beautiful earth. The best way to achieve financial and ecological zen is to upcycle, repurpose and reuse existing furniture or materials. Sometimes all it takes is a little inspiration to push us to see the potential in the objects that are all around us. Obviously we love vintage apple crates here at VAC headquarters, and after many years of selling our crates and upcycled furniture we know you do too! We have seen many weird and wonderful things used in conjunction with our crates including vintage potato sacks, vintage fabrics and reclaimed metal. The possibilities really are only limited by your imagination.

Your home can truly reflect your individual style, with a bit of creativity and elbow grease you can create that wow factor in your home on the cheap. Apple crates can make for great side tables, wall mounted shelves, coffee tables, shelving units, toy boxes, planters…the list just goes on and on. For more inspiration we were recently included in a blog by Ruth from Craft with Cartwright. Ruth was kind enough to review our crates and came up with seven ideas for using vintage apple crates at home. We especially loved her idea of using them in the garden and her “chuck” box idea was a master piece…definitely with us girls in the office with kids.

So if you are considering sprucing up your living space with some warm rustic charm, we highly recommend you check out our Premium Type 4 Crates (as also used by Ruth).

With the crates being a style you can add to at any time, you no longer need to fear the style will be discontinued…as with conventional furniture. Our vintage apple crates are truly just that, used vintage crates and as such they are available for as long as people eat apples! I don’t think that will be going out of style any time soon.

Ha ha.. while we are on the topic of apples, we love a good apple pie here in the office. So if you have any recipes be sure to send them in!

Have a “crate” week.

Michelle – Vintage Apple Crates
